Our girls need us before menstrual shame reaches her first
Long before her first period arrives, a girl is already learning what menstruation means.
She's noticing what's whispered about.
What gets hidden. The jokes. The embarrassment.
How the women around her speak about - or disconnect from - their own bodies.
And when her first period eventually arrives, she's learning far more than how to use a pad.
She's learning:
Is my changing body welcome?
Can I ask for what I need?
Is this something to celebrate or conceal?
Do I belong here as I change?
This is why First Moon Circles® exist.
Girls absolutely need accurate menstrual and puberty education.
But information is not initiation.
Information can tell a girl what is happening.
A consciously held rite of passage can change what the experience means to her.
It can meet her with knowledge, reverence, sisterhood, celebration and care at a formative threshold in her life.
And that requires women who are prepared to hold it.

Our girls deserve more than our good intentions. They deserve skilled, confident women who know how to educate, facilitate, include, safeguard and hold this threshold with depth and care.
